Vanilla Lemonade

Juice and peel a lemon. Stir a cup of white sugar into a cup of water, add the lemon peel, and bring to a boil. Reduce heat, add a tablespoon of vanilla extract or two vanilla beans, and simmer for a minute or two.  Stir into six cups of water with the strained lemon juice.  Chill before serving.

Pickle Lemonade

Something new to try this summer. It’s surprising how much the salt from pickle juice adds to the flavor of B-flat lemonade. To four cups of water, add a cup of dill pickle juice and the juice of about six large lemons. Stir in a cup of sugar. This must be served over ice. You might have to adjust the ratios for your own taste.
